<description>I have just sent this to CTV News.

Hello,

I'm writing with respect to the news item on Saturday night's 11 c'clock news on the arrest of Paul Watson, his comments about the tragedy of the loss of 320,000 seals compared with that of four seal hunters, and your reporter's comment about "emotional" Europeans.

Look at it this way: 320,000 mother seals carry 320,000 pups to term, give birth, and suckle and love their pups. Four mother humans carry their babies to term, give birth, and suckle and love their babies. When the seal hunters turn up with their clubs to kill the pups the mother seals take to the sea. Upon their return, they find their pups gone, but the smell of their pups remains in the pools of blood on the ice. When the seal hunters' boat capsized, four lives were lost. One body is not recovered. The four mothers mourn their loss.

Do you not think that the seals, who are mammals and very intelligent, do not also mourn the loss of their offspring? Of course they do!

I agree with Paul Watson's comment. The seal community's loss was 80,000 times greater than that of the human community's loss - so why do some people get upset by such comments? Mr. Watson is simply telling the truth: there is no comparison between four lives and 320,000 lives lost. The loss of the seal pups is a much greater tragedy. And it's only "political correctness" that prevents more people from saying so!

As for the Europeans, well, they are just a whole lot more civilized than us Canadians. Why would any thinking, feeling being not feel emotion when witnessing a bunch of humans bludgeoning defenceless babies to death and tossing the bloody corpses into their boats?

It is disgusting. It is unnecessary. It is uncivilized. It is shameful. It is very ugly.

Thank goodness for people like Paul Watson who has the courage to expose such acts of atrocity towards our fellow creatures.

I hope the EU and other countries impose a ban on seal imports and collectively bring about the collapse of this appallingly barbaric industry.

I also hope that your reporters will stop passing judgement on Europeans who deplore terrorizing and killing other species in this way.
